Job description
We're looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to join our development team. You will be working on a small software team to produce code for a new robotic product. Embedded experience is a must for this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded software (firmware)
- Interact frequently with the team via GitHub issues/pull-requests/projects, code reviews, instant messaging, and email
- Report frequently on progress against key project deliverables
- Work independently with general direction from team leads
Preferred qualifications
- Experience using RTOS with C++
- Experience adapting C code to work with C++
- Experience with GCC for ARM toolchain under Linux development environment
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
- Experience debugging embedded systems with GDB and SEGGER tools
- Experience configuring scheduler, task priorities, and interrupt priorities in an embedded system
- Strong experience with object oriented programming methodologies, especially design patterns and data structures
- Experience integrating control code, especially a motor driver, inertial measurement unit (IMU), gyroscope (gyro), or accelerometer
- Experience writing device drivers with DMA
- Hands-on experience of using oscilloscope to do basic electronic circuit troubleshooting
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent
- Strong experience with embedded C++ and C (at least 3 years)
- 2-years experience with embedded ARM micro-processors
- Experience writing device drivers
- Experience with multi-threaded design
- Experience configuring, debugging, and profiling a real-time operating system (RTOS)
- Experience writing or editing Makefiles, shell scripts, or equivalent
- Experience with Git or SVN
- Experience reading datasheets and schematics
