We are currently seeking an experienced Red Seal (RS) Carpenter for our client, a growing mining operation based in Ontario. This is a contract position operating on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule, with an anticipated duration of approximately 3 months. The role will primarily involve framing, cladding, and interior finishing work. Compensation is $60/hour, with overtime paid after 8 hours worked per day. References, proof of trade qualification, D+A, Medical, CRC, all required.
We are looking for those individuals with a strong work ethic and a good employment track-record and a demonstrated safety record
Main Accountabilities:
- Framing, cladding and interior finish
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to best practices, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
- Otherwise upgrade/maintain buildings for the plant and accommodations
- Large hardwood timber deck repairs on trucks
- Working at heights for metal siding and roof repairs
- Framing small door canopies
- Skirting work around camp trailers
Main Qualifications:
- Red Seal Carpenter
- Experience working on a rotational basis, particularly in harsh climates.
- Knowledge and experience of industry related safe work practices
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Willingness and capacity to work in adverse conditions, rotational work and Arctic environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment, self-starter and self-motivated, capable of working autonomously with minimum supervision and guidance
- Trouble shooting capabilities are an asset
