POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Upholstery & Restoration Technician to join our team. In this role, you will apply your technical aptitude and eye for detail to restore automotive interiors, repair furniture defects, and remediate hail and material damage for residential and commercial clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Upholstery & Restoration Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Restoration & Repair
- Perform high-quality upholstery repairs and restorations across automotive, residential, and commercial applications, Trim and plastic repairs, door panels, seats, couches Chairs, to detail a few.
- Assess damage, diagnose root causes, and select appropriate repair techniques and materials for each project
- Mix colour, match, and apply colours with precision to achieve exact client specifications and seamless results
- Repair automotive interior damage including seats, door panels, headliners, and consoles
- Remediate furniture defects and hail-related material damage to manufacturer and client standards
Quality & Standards
- Ensure all finished work meets or exceeds CRT quality standards and client expectations prior to delivery
- Conduct thorough quality inspections at each stage of the restoration process
- Maintain detailed records of project scope, materials used, and work completed
Client & Team Communication
- Interpret and translate client requests into precise, actionable restoration outcomes
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients and supervisors throughout each project
- Collaborate effectively with team members on large-scale or multi-phase projects
- Manage personal project timelines and workload independently, meeting all agreed-upon deadlines
Workplace & Safety Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times in accordance with company and regulatory standards
- Handle tools, equipment, and materials responsibly, following all health and safety protocols
- Conduct site visits to client locations as required; a valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract are mandatory for this purpose
- Navigate to client and job sites using maps, GPS, or provided directions as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, personal accountability, and professional conduct
- Keen attention to detail with a commitment to precision and quality in all tasks
- Practical experience with hand tools and mechanical or technical repair processes
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to select and apply appropriate techniques from a broad skill set
- Ability to accurately perceive, differentiate, and match colors
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and interpret client needs effectively
- Ability to work independently, manage personal time, and meet project deadlines without direct supervision
- Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract (required for client site visits)
Preferred (Assets)
- Prior experience in upholstery, interior restoration, auto body, or a related skilled trade
- Familiarity with color application systems or spectrum-matching training
- Experience in automotive mechanics or general mechanical trade work
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on team-based projects in a professional environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves regular physical activity. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift and maneuver heavy items, including automotive seats and large furniture pieces, safely and without assistance
- Stand, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time
- Perform precise, fine-motor tasks using hand tools and application equipment requiring manual dexterity
- Work in varied environmental conditions including indoor shop settings and client premises
