We are seeking a uniquely skilled individual to fill the role of Director of Airworthiness. Reporting directly to the General Manager / Accountable Executive, this position fulfils Transport Canada requirements as Person Responsible for Maintenance and retains overall responsibility for the operations of the organization’s Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) along with shared responsibility for the Safety Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the continuous improvement of safety and security, as well as to the principles of quality assurance and sound aircraft maintenance practices;
- Retain overall responsibility for the company’s aircraft maintenance operations, including policies, procedures, technical operations, facilities, equipment and human resources;
- Act as primary customer service liaison for all aircraft maintenance contractual obligations;
- Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities regarding all matters related to the AMO and/or aircraft maintenance requirements under the company’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC);
- Ensure all maintenance personnel are trained and qualified to perform their duties;
- Ensure that a system of Quality Assurance is maintained in accordance with Canadian Aviation regulations and that all non-conformances are actioned as required;
- In conjunction with the Director of Flight Operations ensure the Safety Management System is maintained to company and regulatory standards;
- Liaise directly with the Accountable Executive for all business activities pertaining to the AMO and/or AOC.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Must meet all Transport Canada requirements to hold the position of Person Responsible for Maintenance, including all minimum experience stipulations;
- Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent experience in aviation;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience supervising direct reports and proven team leadership abilities;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
- Eligible to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC);
- Experience with aviation regulatory frameworks;
- Extensive familiarity with the Canadian Aviation Regulations;
- Familiarity with the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations;
- Superior analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong organizational skills and project management skills;
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, customer service and team building with the ability to initiate and model positive change.
