We are currently hiring for the position of an AZ Driver at our Ayr, Ontario location. This position involves the operation of a commercial motor vehicle and the handling and transport of hazardous waste in an environmentally responsible manner. This position does not involve any travel across the Canadian/United States border but our drivers are expected to have open availability for overnight trips. This position will require the successful candidate to spend numerous nights away from home.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify, package, label hazardous and non-hazardous materials for transport
- Accurately complete manifests, bills of lading and associated paperwork
- Ensure loads are secure
- Adhere to vehicle weight limits and ensure proper utilization of Aevitas equipment
- Ensure proper placarding of vehicles
- Accurately complete and maintain daily logs, daily vehicle inspections, trip reports, expense reports and other reports as required
- Comply with legal requirements and internal company policies and procedures
- Ensure equipment is mechanically sound and in good working order at all times
- Maintain communication with management, sales and dispatch
- Maintain a courteous and professional attitude towards customers and other employees
- Additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or Grade 12 equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years experience operating a commercial motor vehicle
- Hazardous waste experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Other Requirements
- Hold a valid AZ Commercial Motor Vehicle License
- Must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Successfully complete a criminal records background check
- Must be willing to participate in a drug and alcohol monitoring program
