We are looking for an RVT to join our growing team!
Paws on Fraser Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, purpose built general practice companion animal hospital in the vibrant neighborhood of Mount Pleasant/Kensington-Cedar Cottage. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced RVTs in a supportive, fast-paced environment. Our veterinarians perform dental procedures and a wide range of surgeries including spays, neuters, lumpectomies, limb amputations, laparotomies and cystotomies.

Our practice is looking for an experienced registered veterinary technologist to join our team full or part time. The ideal candidate will have great technical skills and comfort in performing general anesthesia, and ideally 2 years of RVT experience. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is a team player and is enthusiastic about their profession and what they do. As we are a growing clinic there is room to move into a lead RVT position for the right individual.
Responsibilities:
- Calculate and administer medications and anesthesia under the direction of the veterinarian
- Monitor animals before, during, and after surgery - able to identify and troubleshoot concerning trends in anesthesia
- Comfort with usage of a multiparameter anesthetic monitor unit that measures blood pressure, CO2, ECG
- Perform in-house laboratory tests such as cytology, fecal testing and urinalysis
- Perform technical skills such as taking radiographs, dental radiographs, obtaining blood samples, placing IV catheters, caring for hospitalized patients
- Interact with and educate owners on animal care and treatment
- Work as a team to help out in other areas when needed
Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited program for Veterinary Technologists with ideally 2+ years of experience
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize urgency of tasks an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
