Brief description
The specific duties of an Assistant Retail Manager include overseeing the daily operations of the retail store, scheduling employees to meet business needs, ensuring inventory meets sales targets and is merchandised and displayed in an appealing way both in store and online. They are responsible for mentoring team members and finding ways to increase the quality of customer service in person, through social media and over the phone.
Responsibilities
- Hiring and training staff as needed
- Participating in the documentation and presentation of SOPs
- Supervision and coordination of sales and cashiering staff
- Assign sales workers duties
- Resolve problems that arise, such as customer complaints and supply shortages
- Live goods and inventory management
- Professional Sales and Customer Service
- Overseeing and performing plant maintenance alongside the Production Manager and/or Greenhouse Technician
- Watering, cleaning, condensing, organizing, and maintaining plants within the retail environment
- Workshops & Events: Create, organize and present workshops and events on and off site, in person and also via digital platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Ensuring all price and variety signage matches promotions, is current and visible
- Scheduling staff based on time of year and business needs
- Managing social media posts, promotions and correspondence alongside Office Manager
- Resolving any cash discrepancies
- Generating, understanding and actioning reporting relating to sales and inventory
- Gathering highest quality product for all B2B sales and maintaining the quality until pick-up
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment for customers and staff
Requirements and skills
- Leadership and supervisory experience
- Prior retail cash sales experience
- Good interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace
- Experience with POS software and inventory procedures
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Adaptable and flexible with changing weather and daily schedules, accepting that some days may be longer than others and evenings and weekend work is required
