ABOUT THE BUSY SCHOOL
The BUSY School Calgary is a newly approved Charter School opening in August 2026, created to re-engage young people in Grades 10 to 12 who have stepped away from traditional education. We combine a high school diploma pathway with real-world vocational training, giving students the skills, confidence, and connections they need to launch into meaningful careers. We are mission-driven, relationship-first, and genuinely different.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Employment Pathways Teacher, you will hold both a teaching qualification and a deep commitment to career development. You will oversee the school's off-campus education programming, source work experience and apprenticeship opportunities, and provide personalised support to help each student find their career footing. You will also deliver classroom teaching as part of your broader role.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, industry groups, and registered training organisations
- Manage and supervise off-campus education programs in line with Alberta Education guidelines
- Provide personalised case management to guide students through vocational pathways
- Source work experience placements, apprenticeships, and registered training opportunities
- Engage students through workplace visits, guest speakers, and work readiness programs
- Record and report on student progress and employment outcomes
- Deliver classroom teaching duties as per the Teacher Position Description
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A bachelor's degree in education or equivalent qualification for secondary teaching
- Experience in vocational education pathways and funding frameworks
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills with employers and industry
- Knowledge of apprenticeship programs and registered training organisations
- Experience working with disengaged youth (highly desirable)
- Excellent time management, documentation, and compliance skills
