We are seeking a Mechanical Designer – Fabrication & VDC to join our growing Fabrication Department. This position plays a critical role in transforming project information into fabrication-ready models and deliverables that drive our shop operations. Working closely with our project teams, clients, and fabrication personnel, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating 3D models, preparing fabrication drawings, generating CNC machine files, and ensuring models are brought to a Level of Development (LOD) 400 fabrication-ready standard.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that combines mechanical design, fabrication planning, project coordination, and construction technology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on large industrial projects while helping drive the continued evolution of our digital fabrication processes.

As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and maintain fabrication-ready 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, CADmep, and Navisworks.
- Bring project models to LOD 400 standards suitable for shop fabrication.
- Produce detailed fabrication and spool drawings for pipe fabrication.
- Generate CNC machine files and fabrication data packages required for automated shop equipment.
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, clients, and engineering teams to resolve design and constructability issues.
- Participate in BIM/VDC coordination meetings and provide fabrication input during project development.
- Track model revisions, design changes, and fabrication impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain change logs and ensure all project documentation remains current and accurate.
- Review project specifications, drawings, schedules, and scopes of work to ensure fabrication requirements are captured.
- Support fabrication planning activities by identifying potential conflicts, missing information, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with fabrication personnel to ensure models accurately reflect shop capabilities and fabrication requirements.
- Participate in the continual development and improvement of ServcoCanada's digital fabrication workflows and standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to demonstrate long-term work authorization.
- Live in Winnipeg, Manitoba or surrounding area.
- Own transportation is required.
- Experience developing 3D mechanical models using Revit, CADmep, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Experience working with BIM/VDC workflows and fabrication modelling.
- Strong understanding of Level of Development (LOD) requirements, with experience modelling to LOD 400 considered a significant asset.
- Ability to translate engineering drawings and design intent into fabrication-ready models.
- Experience producing fabrication drawings and coordinating model changes throughout project execution.
- Understanding of pipe fabrication workflows and CNC-driven fabrication processes is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work.
- Construction industry experience, preferably within industrial mechanical systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, reading, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Adaptable to changing project requirements and fast-paced environments.
- Driven to provide value through work ethic, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proactively identify and resolve challenges within the fabrication and VDC process.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
