We are seeking an experienced Design Team Lead to manage and coordinate engineering design projects from concept through completion. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture who has strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
The successful candidate will oversee the design process, review and mark up engineering plans, coordinate drawings across disciplines, provide technical guidance, and ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.
This role offers a defined path to a Design Manager position, with advancement based on performance and demonstrated leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform and contribute to engineering design work, including preparing, developing, and reviewing drawings, plans, and design documentation while ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
* Lead and coordinate engineering design projects from planning through completion.
* Review and mark up engineering drawings, plans, and blueprints for accuracy, quality, and constructability.
* Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, verify design requirements, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and project teams as needed.
* Coordinate drawings and design packages between multiple disciplines to ensure consistency and project alignment.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and technical staff.
* Communicate directly with clients to understand project requirements, provide updates, and resolve design-related issues.
* Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
* Monitor project schedules, priorities, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
* Identify design challenges and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the growth and success of the business.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
* Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario is preferred. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) candidates with relevant experience and a clear path to obtaining their P.Eng. are encouraged to apply.
* 5+ years of experience in engineering design, design coordination, or project management within a consulting or engineering environment.
* Strong ability to read, interpret, review, and mark up engineering drawings and blueprints.
* Experience coordinating drawings across multiple engineering disciplines.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
