Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team in various administrative and research tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong proofreading, research, and writing skills. Duties
- Assist with legal research to gather relevant case information and precedents
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and filings with accuracy and attention to detail
- Manage case files through organized filing systems, both electronic and physical, ensuring easy retrieval of documents
- Perform data entry tasks related to case management systems and maintain accurate records of case activities
- Support team with project management tasks, including scheduling, document tracking, and deadline monitoring
- Conduct interviews and gather information from clients or witnesses as needed for case preparation
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones with professional phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing calendars
- Assist with document organization for application filings and ensure compliance with procedural requirements
- Provide general clerical support including copying, scanning, and maintaining office supplies
Qualifications
- Proven experience in administrative or clerical roles within a legal setting preferred
- Experience related to Immigration files inside Canada is a must.
- Strong proofreading, writing skills, and attention to detail essential for drafting legal documents
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in data entry and filing systems—both electronic and physical—required
- Effective communication skills including professional phone etiquette
- Ability to perform legal research effectively and efficiently
- Prior experience in interviewing clients or witnesses is advantageous
- Knowledge of legal drafting standards and procedures preferred
