Full-Time | Based full-time at our Chilliwack BC office, with site presence as required across the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver
Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 per year, set on experience, plus performance incentives
Read this first. This role is based in our Chilliwack office. You will work in the office alongside our team the majority of the week, and site presence only as the project requires. This is not a remote or hybrid-by-default position. If a sustained daily commute to Chilliwack does not work for you long term, this is not the right seat and we would rather you know that now.
Brunelle Building Co. is a First Nations owned construction management and consulting firm. We provide owner-side project leadership for developers and ownership groups, and senior project management capacity embedded within general contractor teams, on commercial, residential, multifamily, and community projects across British Columbia. We are not a general contractor. Depending on the project, we provide independent leadership on the owner's side, or we embed directly within a contractor's team to strengthen delivery. Either way, we are brought in because the project needs experienced, capable leadership.
We are hiring a Project Manager to manage an active commercial or multifamily project, with support across the firm's other engagements as workload requires. You report to the principal and work inside the firm's established systems, reporting standards, and processes. You are supported by senior oversight, and you are expected to run your project without needing to be walked through it.
This is a seat for someone with five to eight years managing construction work who is ready to carry a project properly, hold the standard in front of a client and a trade base, and grow into more responsibility as the firm grows.
What you'll own
- Management of an active commercial or multifamily project through to closeout, accountable for it running correctly and to BBC's standards, with support across the firm's other engagements as workload requires
- Cost control: budgets tracked, change and cost reporting accurate and current, the numbers standing up to scrutiny
- Schedule management: a schedule that is real and maintained, with slippage identified early and recovery options brought forward before it becomes a problem
- Accountable that RFIs, submittals, document control, safety documentation, QA/QC, and reporting are current and correct. Nothing outstanding, nothing slipping
- Coordination with consultants, the GC, subtrades, and suppliers, with accurate and timely reporting up to the principal
- Working inside BBC's project systems and reporting structure. Our systems are established. We need you to run them well, not replace them with your own
- Site presence at critical points, key meetings, and wherever the work needs your eyes on it
Who this is for
You can run a project without being managed through it. You see cost and schedule problems while they are still small and raise them with a recommendation attached, not after they land. You are organized, and your documentation holds up when someone goes looking for it. You are field-credible and client-presentable, because on our engagements you are the firm in the room.
You are not looking to coast at this level. You want a firm where the work you do is visible and where doing it well leads somewhere.
What you bring
- Five to eight years managing construction projects, ideally including commercial, multifamily, or institutional work
- Post-secondary credential in Construction Management, Building Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent field experience that backs it up
- Working command of construction methods, sequencing, contracts, and cost control
- Ability to hold a position with a subtrade or consultant when it matters, and the judgment to know when to escalate rather than absorb it
- Comfort with PM, estimating, and scheduling software, and with running organized digital project information
- Clear written communication. You will be putting BBC's name on reports and correspondence
- Exposure to cost-plus, open-book, CM, or owner's-rep arrangements is a strong asset, not a requirement. Experience with Indigenous, public, or institutional projects is valued
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Local site travel is part of the role
