LF: Part-Time Barn Hand, Innisfil ON
Position is available now at our current farm, and we are moving to a larger facility (8 minutes away from current facility) Nov. 1st, with more hours/shifts coming available (if wanted.)
For the current farm:Looking for someone to do 2 weekday mornings & 1 weekend day morning (Sat or Sun) 7:30am start time – takes 1.5hrs of work – more hours may be available for odd jobs (stacking hay, packing, tacking horses, night check, show days)
Paid a flat rate for current farm, will be paid hourly at new facility.
Current farm has 5 horses, they are on hybrid turnout, so there won’t always be stalls. Job Duties Include:
- Muck & bed stalls (when they come in overnight)
- Tidy/pick paddocks (when they are out overnight)
- Tidy the barn
- Prepare & feed grain
- Turnout horses & dress them as needed
- Fill & scrub water buckets and troughs
Currently, to do turnout & do all the chores at home it takes 1.5hrs – you will be paid a = flat rate and you can go at your own pace.
The applicant we are looking for:
- 18+ as you will be working alone (until we move to the new farm)
- Reliable transportation
- Experience working as a stable hand – must be able to lead 2 horses at a time
- Self-sufficient: We want to know the job will be done correctly, and you can work alone without someone telling you exactly how & what you need to do.
Opportunities for the right candidate:

- The option of reduced board for your horse or lessons, or lessons in exchange for work
Our current and future barn setup is very easily workable. We feed small squares, have bulk shavings, and we set reasonable expectations - as we have done this job & know how demanding the equine industry can be. With that being said, we need someone reliable.
Compensation:
Flat rate pay will depend on your experience level, and what you bring to the role.Hourly pay will depend on your current performance once we move to the new farm.
