I run a YouTube channel focused on uncovering the hidden stories behind Kitsilano Vancouver buildings, streets, and neighbourhoods.
I’m looking for someone who genuinely enjoys going down research rabbit holes and finding stories most people would never think to look for.
This isn’t traditional content writing. I’m looking for someone who can take an ordinary building or street and uncover the people, history, drama, quirks, and forgotten details that make a place interesting.
This role is probably a great fit if you’re the kind of person who enjoys Wikipedia deep-dives, old newspaper archives, historical oddities, genealogy rabbit holes, or piecing together stories from small overlooked details.
I’m looking for someone who can look beyond the obvious facts and find the human story — unusual owners, local controversies, forgotten businesses, interesting residents, cultural shifts, neighbourhood drama, or surprising connections tied to a property.
The ideal candidate will produce four video scripts per month, typically ranging from 2–5 minutes in length, and will have strong research and fact-checking skills. The pay for each video is $75-$150, for a maximum of $600 per month.
A local Kitsilano resident is ideal, but not required. Some walking of the neighbourhood for inspiration, visiting locations, or occasionally speaking with local business owners may be part of the research process.
To Apply:
Please send a writing sample (anything research-heavy or narrative-based is great) and include a short note explaining how you would begin researching a building in Kitsilano, Vancouver if all you had was the address.
Pay: $75.00-$150.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Flexible schedule
- Work from home
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Kitsilano, BC
