Public Works Outside Worker
(Regular Full-Time)
The Township of Spallumcheen is inviting applications for the Township’s Public Works Department for an Operator I. The applicant will be required to perform the duties listed on the Operator I Job Description. The hours of work will be during the regular hours of work as outlined in the CUPE agreement and relevant Letters of Understanding. This work is suitable for an applicant seeking full-time work.
Reporting to the Township’s Foreman, applicants are required to have the following:
- High School Graduation or equivalent,
- Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with air-brake endorsement,
- Obtain and Maintain a Clear Criminal Record Check,
- minimum of one year experience in a public or private sector construction environment.
- One (1) to three (3) years practical experience in a construction environment as a heavy equipment operator and labourer,
- Knowledge of materials/tools, equipment and procedures used in a public works department;
- Traffic Control Person Certification;
- Current Level 1 First Aid Certificate;
- WHMIS Training.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and can complete duties requiring physical effort.

This is a CUPE Local 2709 position with an hourly rate of $35.62/hour (2025 rates) with a comprehensive benefits package.
