Certified Automotive Technician / Mobile Mechanic Contractor

KLN AutoWorks is looking for a reliable, certified automotive technician to join our growing mobile automotive service network in Winnipeg. We provide customers with convenient, professional auto repair at their home, workplace or approved service location. Our goal is simple: dealership-quality work without the dealership waiting room circus.
Responsibilities
- Perform mobile automotive services including brakes, suspension, steering, diagnostics, battery/alternator/starter replacement, wheel bearings, oil service, tire rotation and minor repairs.
- Inspect vehicles, diagnose issues and document findings clearly.
- Communicate professionally with customers and KLN AutoWorks.
- Protect customer property and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Follow KLN AutoWorks quality, safety, inspection and documentation standards.
- Submit job notes, photos and parts/labour information after each service.
- Recommend only necessary repairs with honest, transparent communication.
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Automotive Service Technician, Journeyperson certification or equivalent strong automotive qualification preferred.
- Minimum 4–5 years of professional automotive repair experience.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
- Own professional automotive tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently in mobile service conditions.
- Strong knowledge of brake systems, steering, suspension, charging/starting systems and basic diagnostics.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Professional, reliable, organized and punctual.
- Ability to pass reference/background screening if required.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Contractor Requirements
- Must operate as an independent contractor/subcontractor.
- Must be able to invoice KLN AutoWorks for completed work.
- Must maintain appropriate auto insurance for business/mobile service use.
- Commercial general liability insurance is preferred/required before active dispatch.
- WCB registration, personal coverage or clearance may be required depending on contractor status.
- Contractor may maintain other customers/clients and controls accepted availability.
- Contractor is responsible for tools, vehicle, business expenses, taxes and statutory remittances unless otherwise required by law.
Preferred Assets
- Red Seal endorsement.
- Experience with mobile mechanic service.
- Scan tool ownership and electrical diagnostic ability.
- Experience with European, domestic and Asian vehicles.
- Ability to perform digital inspections with photos.
