About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a client in Sudbury who uses a wheelchair and is paralyzed from the waist down. They currently receive PSW and nursing care for bathing and personal care, but need additional support with household tasks and daily living activities. The client is in the process of transitioning to hospice care and requires immediate assistance to maintain their home environment and quality of life during this time.
Responsibilities:
The primary focus will be household support including cleaning, laundry, and dishes. Meal preparation assistance is needed as the client can reheat food but requires help with cooking. Light personal care support such as moisturizing and grooming assistance may be requested. The caregiver should be comfortable working independently and taking initiative with household tasks while respecting the client's independence and existing care routines.
What We're Looking For:
We need someone who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to take initiative when needed. The ideal caregiver will make the client feel comfortable and respected while providing reliable, consistent support. Experience with mobility assistance and working with clients who use wheelchairs is important. The caregiver should be comfortable with light housekeeping duties and meal preparation, and must speak English fluently.
Schedule:
This is a three-month commitment with four hours per week split across two visits. The schedule is flexible regarding specific days and times, as the client is typically home except for medical appointments. Each visit will be a minimum of two hours. The same caregiver will provide all visits to ensure consistency and build rapport with the client.
