Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations efficiently and ensure seamless delivery and shipping processes. In this vital role, you will manage freight schedules, communicate with drivers, carriers, and clients, and utilize advanced transportation management systems to optimize logistics workflows. Duties
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities by scheduling pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems (TMS) and other software tools such as SyteLine or AS400.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and customers via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette to provide updates and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor freight movements, track shipments, and update relevant data entry logs to maintain accurate records of shipping & receiving activities.
- Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies or delays, providing insights for continuous improvement within the supply chain.
- Manage shipping documentation, freight manifests, and compliance paperwork ensuring adherence to safety standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate freight movement across multiple channels.
- Handle inquiries related to shipment status, delivery schedules, or logistical concerns with clear communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, or SyteLine is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, freight operations, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in typing and record keeping.
- Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret logistics data and recommend process improvements.
- Exceptional communication skills combined with professional phone etiquette for multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with 3PL providers and freight regulations is a plus.
