We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team at an authentic Indian restaurant. As a Line Cook, you will play a key role in preparing traditional and modern Indian dishes with consistency and care. Your experience in Indian cuisine, attention to detail, and commitment to food quality and safety will ensure every plate reflects the rich flavors and heritage of our menu. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes (curries, biryanis, tandoori items, appetizers, etc.) according to standardized recipes and taste profiles.
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet dine-in and take-out demands.
- Operate kitchen equipment including tandoor ovens, flat-top grills, fryers, and more.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and all workstations.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards as per local health regulations.
- Monitor inventory and inform the chef or kitchen manager about low stock or shortages.
- Assist in training new cooks on Indian cooking techniques, spice usage, and kitchen procedures.
- Participate in daily prep tasks such as marinating meats, preparing chutneys, chopping vegetables, and making dough for naan or parathas.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in an Indian restaurant or in preparing Indian cuisine is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking methods (tandoor, curries, frying, etc.), and traditional dishes.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a high-pressure environment.
- Positive attitude, team spirit, and strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Passion for Indian food and eagerness to learn and grow in the culinary field.
