THE RECE SHOULD:

Our approach is to plan a curriculum that emerges from the children's interests and supports their needs.
- Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and providing opportunities to express creativity.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Make daily observations and observe children for signs of potential learning
- Knowledge of CCEYA
- Knowledge of Emergent Curriculum
- Knowledge of E.L.E.C.T and "How does learning happen?"
- Knowledge of licensing regulations
- Knowledge of how to redirect children
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety and well-being of children
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or concerns with parents and other staff members
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Must be registered and a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in childcare programs
- A capacity to work within multiple level reporting structures; demonstrated professionalism working with teachers and staff in the delivery of shared,
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities
- Well developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Only those individuals legally entitled to work in Canada will be considered for employment with the preschool Canada
- Ability to use frequent light to the medium physical effort: lifting up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping
- Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold
- Excellent written communication skills
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- All staff working with children are required under the Child Care and Early Year's Act to have a valid standard first aid certification, including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), before the first day of work
Job offers are contingent upon completing a Police Records Check. Within the first four months and every three years after that, a Vulnerable Police Records Check is required.
