Heritage Academy is seeking a passionate and compassionate elementary teacher to join our team in a Grade 1/2 split classroom of five students.
We are a small, close-knit private school specializing in neurodiverse learners. While our classes are intentionally small, students require individualized programming, accommodations, and modifications to support a variety of learning needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder(level 1), ADHD, learning disabilities, and executive functioning challenges.
This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys relationship-based teaching, differentiated instruction, and collaborating with educational assistants, support staff, and families to help every student succeed.
Qualifications
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) member in good standing
- Primary/Junior qualifications
- Special Education Part 1 (minimum); Part 2/Specialist preferred
- Classroom teaching experience
- Experience supporting neurodiverse learners
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction.
- Implement IEPs through accommodations and modified programming.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom.
- Collaborate with educational assistants, administration, and families.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with parents.
