Overview
We are seeking a Labourer / Apprentice Carpenter in and around Calgary. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience relating to all aspects of basic carpentry, including commercial interior construction pertaining to overall finishes, rough/finish carpentry, wood/metal framing, and concrete work. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and that displays a willingness to learn and develop their skills to become a carpenter. As a Labourer/Apprentice Carpenter, you will maintain a role in building and maintaining structures, contributing to commercial projects, and will learn under the supervision of a Master Carpenter on site.
Duties
- Construct, install, and repair structures made of wood, metal, plywood, and wallboard.
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete tasks.
- Ensure all work is plumb, level, and square according to project requirements.
- Work at elevated heights, such as ladders and scissor lifts, when required.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople on-site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety.
Skills
- Familiarity with reading blueprints and schematics pertaining to work tasks.
- Knowledge of wood framing/ steel stud and drywall installations.
- Competence in using hand tools such as saws, hammers, drills, and levels.
- Basic knowledge of rough & finish carpentry theory and techniques.
A valid Driver's License is required, as transportation may be required within the day.
Wage based on proven knowledge and experience.
