Verkhovets Law is an established law firm specializing in Plaintiff personal injury litigation. We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with 2-5 years of experience in personal injury to handle accident benefits matters independently.
The successful candidate must possess strong legal skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team in a professional environment.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English (required)
- Member of the LSO in good standing (required)
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Conducting intake meetings
- Keeping client appraised of the progress of their claims
- Completing and submitting various OCF forms as per the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
- Corresponding with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance companies
- Requesting, reviewing and summarizing any records for the purposes of advancing accident benefits claims
- Preparing and submitting appeal applications to the License Appeal Tribunal
- Drafting Case Conference Summaries
- Attending Case Conferences
- Complying with all procedural steps required at LAT
- Meeting deadlines statutorily prescribed limitations
- Conducting research within accident benefits regime
- Drafting written submissions for LAT hearings
- Assisting counsel in oral and hybrid hearings
- Drafting reasons for reconsideration and/or judicial review where required
- Scheduling client appointments and meetings
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of P1 experience working with Accident Benefits claims
- Paralegal Diploma from recognized institution
- Active Paralegal License in good standing
- Proficiency with the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
- Experience in personal injury law
- Knowledge of dispute resolution process for AB claims
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience handling independently accident benefits files
- Professional attitude
- A passion for working within personal injury
