Remote Affidavit Drafter – Independent Contractor
Pugsley Court Agents Inc. is a Canadian legal support company coordinating process serving and related services across Canada and internationally. We are looking for a careful and reliable affidavit drafter to assist us on an assignment-by-assignment basis.
This is a fully remote, independent contractor position with flexible hours. Work volume will vary, and no minimum number of assignments or hours is guaranteed.
Compensation
- $10 CAD per completed Affidavit of Service
- $20 CAD per completed Affidavit of Attempted Service
- Compensation is paid for each finalized affidavit accepted by Pugsley Court Agents
- The contractor will submit periodic invoices listing the affidavits completed
We provide the process server’s notes, relevant documents and templates. Most affidavits of service are straightforward. Affidavits of attempted service generally require more detailed drafting and a clear chronological account of the attempts made.
Responsibilities
- Draft affidavits of service and attempted service using information supplied by process servers
- Prepare clear, accurate and professional descriptions of service attempts
- Ensure names, dates, addresses, court information and document titles are accurate
- Identify missing, inconsistent or unclear information before finalizing an affidavit
- Follow applicable templates and formatting requirements
- Make corrections promptly when required
- Protect confidential client and file information
- Complete assignments within the requested turnaround time
Who We’re Looking For
This opportunity may be a good fit for a:
- Paralegal or paralegal student
- Law clerk or legal assistant
- Canadian law student
- Individual with previous litigation, process-serving or affidavit-drafting experience
Applicants should have:
- Strong written English and exceptional attention to detail
- Familiarity with affidavits and Canadian legal documents
- The ability to turn rough process-server notes into a clear and accurate narrative
- Reliable access to Microsoft Word or compatible document-editing software
- The ability to work independently and respond reasonably quickly when assignments are received
- Residence in Canada
Experience drafting affidavits for more than one Canadian province or territory is an asset.
