Job Overview
Little Leaf Interiors is a Calgary-based, residential interior renovation company, specializing in Basement Development & Suite legalization, bathrooms, kitchens, flooring and touch-up/refresh projects.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced, multi-talented Lead Hand to join our team as a senior, on-site renovator, capable of shaping a project from beginning to end. The ideal candidate will be accountable, punctual, possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable in a lead role, often unsupervised. As a Lead Hand you must be experienced on tools, have a good understanding of building and renovation processes and be comfortable assigning tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring project quality, safety on-site, and efficiency while maintaining adherence to project plans and schedules.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced individual who has tools and a reliable vehicle - truck or van - capable of hauling supplies when needed (drywall, lumber, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Versed in many trades: This role requires a multi-skilled craftsman (tasks may include framing, drywall, flooring, base & trim, painting, cabinet/shower/bath installs, etc)
- Comfortable and proficient with hand tools, power tools and machinery
- Will be required to supervise crews on-site from time to time, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications
- Effective time management - for yourself and your team
- Must be comfortable talking to clients, other sub-trades and giving instructions or assigning tasks to junior team members.
- Read and interpret construction documents to guide team activities
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and trades
- Oversee quality control measures to ensure work meets industry standards and client expectations
- Coordinate with project manager, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate smooth communication and workflow
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections on-site
- Provide training and mentorship to team members to promote skill development and adherence to best practices
- Heavy lifting may be required from time to time
- A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required
Experience
- Proven experience in residential construction and/or renovation
- High level of experience and proficiency in framing, drywall, flooring, finishing, cabinetry, painting, etc., all considered assets
- Familiarity with construction safety standards and protocols
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively considered a strong asset.

A valid driver's license is required, as this position will travel to multiple locations regularly.
