The Accountant & Decision Support Lead is a full-time, non-union position responsible for administrative and financial services across the MICs Group of Health Services. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position provides financial analysis, planning, and decision-support services while supporting financial stewardship, financial reporting, and budgeting.
The position supports the finance function through month-end accounting, general ledger maintenance, monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and statistical reporting. This includes mandated Ministry, regulatory, and external reporting requirements for acute care, long-term care, and other funded programs.
In addition to finance responsibilities, the Accountant & Decision Support Lead provides decision support to managers and program leaders through budget preparation, forecasting, variance reporting, dashboards, performance indicators, and other analytical tools. The position also provides guidance, training, and mentorship to finance staff, supports workflow coordination, promotes standardized financial processes and best practices, and assists with strategic initiatives and organizational planning activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- Eligibility to pursue a CPA designation is considered an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting, financial planning, decision support, or related experience
- Advanced proficiency in Meditech, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Meditech Financial applications
- Previous healthcare finance experience is considered an asset
- Experience with Ministry reporting, HIRF, LTC Annual Returns, and healthcare funding models is considered an asset
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and decision support software is considered an asset
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial leaders
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
- A clear criminal record check will be required by the successful candidate as a condition of employment
