Jarvis Design Firm is looking for a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join our growing team.
What You Will Do
- Complete detailed engineering design calculations for building mechanical and electrical systems.
- Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power distribution, emergency power, and low-voltage systems for residential and ICI projects.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
- Review and coordinate mechanical and electrical designs with architectural, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
- Conduct site inspections, building assessments, and condition evaluations.
- Prepare engineering reports and field review reports.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submissions.
- Assist with permit applications and approvals with municipalities and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and assist with preparing engineering proposals and RFP responses.
- Support project management activities including scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Ontario Building Code requirements, energy standards, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (required).
- 10-15 yrs experience working on multi-family residential & commercial projects, as well as, experience with institutional and industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, ASHRAE, CSA, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with project teams.
Preferred Experience
Mechanical Engineering Candidates
- HVAC load calculations and equipment selection.
- Plumbing and drainage system design.
- Fire protection and sprinkler coordination.
- Energy modeling and building performance analysis.
Electrical Engineering Candidates
- Power distribution and service sizing.
- Lighting design and photometric analysis.
- Emergency power systems and generators.
- Fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Revit MEP
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office Suite
- HVAC and electrical design software
- Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication (English)
- Excellent time management skills
- Salary is to be determined based on each candidate's experience.
- Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required)
