We are a busy and growing cardiology clinic committed to providing exceptional patient care through a collaborative team of cardiologists, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), and administrative professionals. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and proactive Nurse's Assistant to support our allied health professionals and help ensure an excellent patient experience.
Position Summary
The Nurse's Assistant works closely with Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and physicians to support patient care and clinic operations. This role serves as an important liaison between patients, allied health professionals, pharmacies, and administrative staff. The successful candidate will assist with patient communications, prescription management, medical documentation, and coordination of care while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and physicians with patient care coordination and follow-up activities.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, allied health professionals, pharmacies, and administrative staff.
- Respond to patient inquiries and ensure concerns are directed to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Assist with patient symptom reporting and communication under the direction of allied health professionals.
- Coordinate prescription renewals, clarification requests, and pharmacy communications.
- Assist with the completion, processing, and tracking of medical forms, including Ministry of Transportation (MTO) forms and other clinical documentation.
- Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Monitor and manage clinical task lists to ensure timely patient follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and administrative staff to support efficient clinic operations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy legislation, professional standards, and clinic policies.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized Nursing Assistant, Personal Support Worker (PSW), Practical Nursing, or related healthcare program.
- Previous experience in a hospital, or specialty healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications. Accuro EMR preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Experience in cardiology is considered an asset.
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
