Join our team as a Workforce Scheduler and play an important role in supporting smooth, reliable day-to-day operations. This temporary part-time position begins at 30 hours per week for six months. After that period, there may be a possibility to extend or transition into casual relief coverage to support staff leaves and operational needs.
Nature of Position
The Scheduler plays a critical role in coordinating and executing all scheduling functions within a complex, 24/7, 365-day unionized environment. This position ensures consistent staffing levels by managing vacant shifts, responding to sick calls, filling vacant lines, and overseeing short-call coverage. The Scheduler maintains accurate call lists, overtime tracking systems, and rotation calendars to support operational continuity. In addition, the role processes leave requests and supports all aspects of vacation planning, including accrual calculations and the vacation selection process for unionized staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Scheduling of complex teams in a 24/7, 365 day unionized workplace
· Calling out vacant shifts, sick calls, and vacant lines
· Maintaining call lists and an overtime tracker
· Process Leave Request Forms
· Schedule training and education days and Advanced pre-booking shifts
· Placing Floats and coverage for vacation relief and block booking
· Organizing and scheduling orientation for new employees
· Maintaining a rotation calendar and Assignment lists
· Advanced scheduling including building rotations and training new hires as well as Vacation planning, Accrual calculations and Vacation selection process for unionized employees
· Maintains employee records as well as ensuring all training records are up to date.
· Runs various reports.
· Participates in various iprs public relations activities, and/or events.
· Responds to inquiries related to scheduling and human resources
Required Abilities
· High level of organizational skills.
· Excellence in tracking and managing data.
· Proficient in the use of software programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Ability to organize work, balance competing deadlines, and carry out the duties of the position with independence.
· Superior oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Demonstrated skill in respectful, diplomatic, and tactful communication.
· Demonstrated ability to remain calm when communicating in difficult situations.
· Working knowledge of scheduling for a unionized workforce.

Qualifications
· Preference given to candidates with experience working in a unionized environment
· Preference given to candidates with 3 years recent, related experience or
equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
· Preference given to candidates with a diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or related fields.
