Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is a leading road construction company providing premier services throughout Alberta. We are currently seeking a hard-working Grounds Person (Labourer) in our Asphalt Plant for the upcoming season.
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Asphalt Plant Manager, the Asphalt Plant Grounds Person is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the asphalt plant site. This role supports the overall operations by ensuring the plant environment is safe, organized, and efficient.
Hours:
- Seasonal position from May to November
- Monday to Saturday on average 12 hour days
Responsibilities:
- Perform general housekeeping tasks, including sweeping, shoveling, and pressure washing.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment. Help with the setup and teardown of equipment as needed.
- Operate small machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials and supplies.
- Assist in the storage and organization of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
General Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to operate small machinery and tools.
- The ability to take direction and follow instructions, completing tasks in an efficient manner and to the required standards.
- Able to maintain reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
- Positive attitude, self-confident, self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Good physical condition and stamina; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to perform manual tasks efficiently.
- This is a safety-sensitive position; pre-employment drug screening is required.
