Lead Certified Dental AssistantJob Description
We are a friendly, patient-focused general dental practice looking for an experienced Lead Certified Dental Assistant to join our team.
This position is ideal for a confident and organized CDA who enjoys both clinical assisting and taking ownership of the day-to-day clinical operations of a dental office. The Lead CDA will support the dentists, guide the clinical team, and help ensure that the office runs efficiently, consistently, and professionally.
Key ResponsibilitiesTracker Software and Patient Coordination
- Maintain accurate and complete patient charts in Tracker.
- Ensure treatment, clinical notes, procedures, and required information are entered after each patient visit.
- Prepare treatment estimates and help explain treatment plans to patients.
- Review the schedule and ensure the clinical team is prepared for upcoming procedures.
- Support the front desk and treatment coordinators with clinical questions when required.
Inventory and Supply Management
- Monitor clinical inventory and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Order dental supplies while minimizing waste and unnecessary expenses.
- Organize supplies so they are easily accessible and properly rotated.
- Communicate with suppliers and address missing, delayed, or incorrect orders.
- Ensure operatories and clinical areas are properly stocked.
Equipment Maintenance and Repairs
- Maintain an organized schedule for equipment servicing and preventive maintenance.
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs with service technicians.
- Follow up on outstanding repairs until they are completed.
- Maintain records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and warranties.
- Help minimize clinical disruptions caused by equipment issues.
Clinical Operations and Workflow
- Ensure operatories are properly set up and the clinical team is prepared for the day.
- Support efficient patient flow and minimize delays.
- Identify workflow issues and recommend practical improvements.
- Ensure clinical systems and office procedures are followed consistently.
- Coordinate with the Office Lead and management team regarding clinical operational concerns.
Clinical Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to CDAs and clinical team members.
- Assist with onboarding and training new clinical employees.
- Promote consistent clinical systems and standards throughout the office.
- Help address minor clinical team concerns and workflow issues.
- Encourage accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and a positive workplace culture.
- Lead by example through reliability, organization, communication, and patient care.
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant certification in good standing.
- Minimum three years of dental assisting experience.
- Previous leadership or senior CDA experience is preferred.
- At least one year of experience using Tracker dental software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, clinical workflows, and treatment planning.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicating with patients, dentists, team members, suppliers, and service technicians.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and follow through on tasks.
- Positive, professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
