Job Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Business Central Process and Systems Consultant acts as the bridge between business operations and technology. This role will work closely with management, accounting, operations, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, and service teams to optimize the use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, improve business processes, and identify opportunities for automation and system enhancements. The successful candidate will help maximize the value of Business Central by improving workflows, increasing user adoption, enhancing reporting capabilities, and supporting future system development.
Duties
- Review current business processes across finance, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, projects, service, and operations
- Gather requirements from stakeholders throughout the organization
- Identify inefficiencies, manual processes, unused or underutilized modules, duplicate data entry, and process gaps
- Assess current Business Central usage and assist with the implementation, configuration, and optimization of core modules, including inventory management, purchasing, warehouse management, jobs/projects, approvals, and reporting
- Customize pricing and quoting structures in the sales quoting/sales order modules
- Configure system settings to align with business needs
- Assist with testing and validation of system changes
- Translate operational requirements into system solutions
- Recommend further software enhancements (such as a field service module, service management or any third party alternatives)
- Develop meaningful operational and financial reporting using Business Central and Power BI to support decision-making and performance measurement
- Improve visibility into inventory levels, project profitability and project costs
- Train employees on Business Central best practices and act as a resource for users during system improvements
- Recommend and implement improved workflows utilizing standard Business Central functionality whenever possible
- Document business processes, workflows, and system configurations to support ongoing training and continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience implementing or supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong business analysis and process improvement experience
- Experience working with inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, project accounting and service operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Background in training end users and supporting organizational change is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to translate operational requirements into system solutions
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, Power Platform and APIs is a plus
Please note that this job is mostly remote, but would require travel to our location at the Edmonton International Airport at least a few times in order to learn and understand the business.
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
