Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This role is focused on individual cases helping clients find solutions to problems of social adjustment that are difficult for individuals to navigate on their own, assisting in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and preparing discharge and other plans. The role contributes to the broader mission and values of The Salvation Army, upholding standards of service that reflect its spiritual and social commitment to the community.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Incumbents may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.
- Support new staff training and orientation to ensure program quality as directed by the supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with community partners as requested.
- Support development and implementation of service plans, conducting assessments, and coordinating services.
- Coordinate and monitor daily activities of staff to support efficient service delivery under the direction of the supervisor.
- May provide additional support for more complex caseload, providing direct service to clients while also supporting other case workers as directed by the supervisor.
- Provide comprehensive case management services, including client assessments, case planning, coordination, documentation, and referrals to internal and external supports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners such as law enforcement, healthcare providers, Indigenous organizations, and social service agencies to support client outcomes as directed.
- Contribute to program development by offering feedback on program design, materials, and policies, and supporting implementation across multiple program sites.
- Conduct home visits and deliver in-home training or support services in alignment with program requirements as required.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including outreach, community events, committee involvement, and development of external partnerships.
- Support program innovation by applying knowledge of relevant issues, contributing to training materials, and identifying creative approaches to service delivery and crisis intervention.
- Support compliance with all program procedures, health and safety standards, and organizational policies in the execution of duties.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including training sessions, team meetings, and learning lab initiatives to enhance service effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and statistical data to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Represent the organization in a respectful and professional manner, reflecting the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
- Other related duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Internal: Ministry Unit leadership, staff, and volunteers.
External: community members, community groups/organizations, service agencies, guests/clients of ministry unit in person.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Program Manager.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- May be involved in minor financial transactions on a regular or relief basis and is expected to exercise sound judgment in the use of organizational and personal resources.
- May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash, including disbursements and collections.
- May have access to confidential and sensitive information and is expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in the office environment, mostly within a ministry unit or facility.
- The incumbent may interact with individuals displaying challenging behaviours.
- This role may require shift work, work over weekends, statutory holidays and extended hours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of Undergraduate/College Degree in Social Services/Work, Criminology, Psychology, Correctional Services, or other related fields.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
Experience and Knowledge Requirements:
- At least 3 years of related experience is a minimum requirement for this role.
- Thorough knowledge of homelessness, addiction, mental health etc.
- Experience in caring for people who require physical, emotional and psychosocial support.
- Experience working with a diverse population.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- An alternative level or combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to offer care in a respectful manner, to assess and report changes in physical and emotional well-being and to offer a compassionate approach to each client and their family.
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude towards the homeless and individuals with substance abuse and concurrent problems, including mental health concerns.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics, with a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $22.91 to $23.43 with a maximum of $23.95.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
