Job Description:
Provide consultation and Occupational Therapy services to address the cognitive, physical, psychiatric and psychosocial needs of the mental health and addiction patients on the in-patient unit though groups or individual therapy to support their recovery and wellbeing. Provide specific standardized assessments of cognitive and functional living skills, ADLs, IADLs and mental status assessments.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited university program of Occupational Therapy
- Master degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and membership with the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists.
- Formal training in CBT/DBT/Solution focused /family Therapy/Supportive counselling would be considered an asset.
- MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment Certification
Experience:
- Previous related mental health experience with acute and chronic populations using best practices modalities for groups and individuals.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of psychiatric illnesses, personality development and dynamics of human behaviour.
- Experience with principles of risk management and de-escalation techniques.
- Previous experience with the geriatric/aging population
- Working knowledge of mental health community resources
