Magnorum Management Group (MMG) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Heavy-Duty Journey Person to join our growing team.
This is a critical, full-time year-round role supporting the repairs, maintenance and onsite break down repairs of our mixed fleet. MMG is the supporting business for Morsky Industrial Services LTD, Neetah Construction LP and Western Infrastructure Inc.
These three businesses own and operate a combined fleet of over 300 units including Heavy and Light Trucks and Trailers, Various Heavy Equipment including Excavators, Dozers, Skid Steers, Loaders and attachments, Pavers, Rollers, Chippers, along with Ag Tractors and attachments.
We are actively looking to increase our productivity by adding a Red Seal Journey Person or long term non-ticketed mechanic — making this an exceptional opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs Maintenance and Repairs including Preventative Maintenance Services, Inspections on Steering, undercarriage, differentials, brakes, suspensions, hydraulic systems and electrical components
- Determines parts needed, maintains stock on parts needed for repair of equipment
- Diagnoses mechanical and electrical defects
- Diagnoses Air Brake Failures on Heavy Trucks and Trailers
- Travel to site to diagnose and repair equipment and vehicles
- Maintains records of repairs including complaint, cause, correction and meter readings
- Related Duties as required
HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Maintains a clean shop, organized and represents the shop on the OHC
- Safety is important and we hold current safety standards including COR and ISNET, demonstrating our commitment to a safety culture
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, tools and equipment used in the overhauling, repair and maintenance of heavy duty, heavy truck and automotive equipment
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and manuals
- Ability to prepare concise reports related to all work performed
- Ability to maintain co-operative and harmonious working relations with other employees
- Demonstrated skill in diagnosing mechanical defects on a variety of equipment
- Will have a complete Mechanic’s set of tools and Storage for in-shop use
- Can safely use hand tools, electrical power tools and air tools
- Interact with Division and Company Managers and staff in a kind and professional manner
- Can Diagnose and Repair Air Brake Components, Trained in Brake 1800 or equivalent, or the willingness to complete the course
- Willingness to work Overtime when needed
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Saskatchewan as needed
- The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through completion of a Journeyperson Certificate in Truck and Transport Trade, Heavy Duty Mechanics, Agriculture Machinery Technician or Automotive Service Technician, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in truck and transport mechanical repair or heavy equipment mechanical repair including training and experience in the heavy-duty service and inspection, trailer repair and inspection, Automotive Multiplex Electrical systems, air brake inspection and maintenance and diesel engines is preferred and/or
- Ten (10) years experience as a non-ticketed mechanic in a mechanical environment can be considered
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required, Class 1A preferred; willingness to upgrade and maintain a graduated license will be considered
- Strong problem-solving skills and self-motivated work habits
- Interprovincial Journey Person in Heavy Truck, Heavy Equipment or Automotive Repair
- Company maintenance truck with repair capabilities including fuel card
