The City of Port Moody is seeking a motivated individual for a regular full-time Mapping & GIS Technologist 1.
This position is responsible for collecting and maintaining geospatial data, performing complex spatial analysis to support various corporate projects, and designing and creating digital products, such as maps, displays, and simple web apps. Other responsibilities include designing, developing and managing GIS databases for all departments; creating and publishing web maps / apps for internal and external clients; preparing and updating utilities feature datasets based on as-built drawings; and working on the NG9-1-1 project, bringing required GIS datasets into NEMA standard.
The required qualifications for the Mapping & GIS Technologist 1 are as follows:
- Two-year diploma specializing geographic information system;
- Minimum two years of related experience, preferably in a municipal setting;
- Thorough understanding of GIS principles, spatial data structure, and attribute definitions;
- Considerable knowledge and experience using the ESRI platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, and ArcGIS Online;
- Experience writing SQL programming, Python scripts and Arcade;
- Experience creating FME Workbench and publishing to FME Server;
- Experience working in the AutoCAD environment for updating Engineering utilities data;
- Experience in processing and compiling orthophotos is a plus; and
- Ability to read and interpreting engineering drawings is an asset.
