As a Maintenance Mechanic for Copper Core Limited, you will be responsible for the general maintenance of machinery, equipment and facilities. We are located in Etobicoke, near Highway 27 and Albion Road.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain and repair production machinery and equipment including: light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, brake presses, computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery, welding equipment, spray-paint equipment, and various hand and power tools.
- Report on damaged and defective machinery and equipment; advise supervisor on repairs and follow-up to ensure repairs are completed.
- Inspect, maintain and repair property, building, facilities, fixtures and appliances; and report damages or defects as needed.
- Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs and installations.
- Ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality.
- Responsible for maintaining external and internal signage of property, facilities and equipment.
- Responsible for maintenance of property including: plowing of parking lot, clearing entrance-ways of snow and ice, laying salt or sand, cutting grass and landscaping.
- Observes, corrects and/or reports any health and safety concerns.
- Reports to the General Manager – or their designate – on a daily basis to ensure maintenance and repairs are executed to production standards in a timely and safe fashion.
- Properly stores and maintains an inventory of materials and equipment; and orders supplies as applicable.
- Any other reasonable duties as required by management from time to time.
Essential Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance of machinery and industrial equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Basic pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge.
- Must be eager to learn, and self-motivated to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to interpret blue prints and shop drawings, and identify part numbers and types of materials.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change.
- Good judgement and analytical skills to identify problems prior to proceeding with repair; knows when a problem is outside the individual’s scope of knowledge and when to ask for assistance.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Policies and WHMIS.
- Ability to operate tow-motor/forklift, snow-plow, scissor-lift, front-end loader, and overhead crane/hoist.
- Physically fit.
