Occupational Therapist - Early Learning Focus
Commencing August 24, 2026
37.5 hours weekly following the school operational calendar
Red Deer Public Schools is seeking a collaborative, student-centred Occupational Therapist to join the Student Services team. This position will provide leadership, consultation, and direct support to schools and educational teams in supporting students with diverse learning, developmental, sensory, behavioural, and functional needs.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance student participation, independence, engagement, and success within inclusive learning environments across the division.
Responsibilities and Expectations:

Supporting students within school-based or early learning environments.

Providing classroom-based occupational therapy consultation.

Supporting Assistive technology, behaviour support, or universal design for learning.

Provide professional learning to educators and educational assistants.

Full or part time arrangements may be considered for the successful candidate(s)
Desirable Qualifications:

A degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Experience working with children and youth in educational or community settings.

Knowledge of inclusive education practices and school-based intervention models.

Strong understanding of sensory processing, motor development, self-regulation, and adaptive strategies.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and community agencies.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload across multiple sites.

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
