Position Summary:
Cutting Edge Landscaping Ltd. is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to support our fleet and equipment operations year-round. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, maintaining a wide range of construction and landscaping equipment, and taking ownership of repair quality and shop organization.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues on heavy equipment.
- Repairing skid steers, loaders, excavators, dozers, trucks, trailers, and small engine equipment.
- Performing welding and light fabrication.
- Conducting routine maintenance: oil changes, lubrication, inspections, and fluid checks.
- Servicing landscaping tools and winter equipment (plows, salters, blowers, pushers).
- Keeping detailed records of work orders, parts usage, and maintenance logs.
- Responding to emergency repairs and call-outs as needed (some on-call)
- Operating company trucks with and without trailers.
- Supporting, mentoring, and guiding junior apprentices or students.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Following all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) or equivalent experience. (Open to apprentices 3rd year +)
- CVIP certification is an asset.
- 3+ years of heavy-duty mechanical experience preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems
- Welding/fabrication experience and asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with clean abstract (Class 3 or air brakes an asset)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
