Job Summary
J.T. Setters & Sons Construction Ltd. is seeking applications from experienced Class 1 Truck Drivers for upcoming earthworks hauling positions. Our drivers transport aggregate materials including gravel, sand, fill, and asphalt, between quarries and active construction sites. Operators must maintain strict adherence to load weight limits, safety protocols, and preventative maintenance guidelines.
Ideal candidates are self-motivated, hard working, with demonstrated communication and teamwork skills. At Setters, a commitment to working safely and efficiently is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Precisely operate tandem truck and trailer setups, including quad wagons, end-dumps and side-dumps, in sometimes tight, high-traffic zones
- Transport, distribute, and unload aggregate payloads into designated areas
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip compliance inspections
- Ensure bulk payloads are tarped, secured, and distributed to meet legal axle weight requirements
- Accurately complete manifests, compliance logbooks, hazard assessments, and scale tickets
- Perform basic servicing, including cleaning, washing, greasing components, and checking fluid levels
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws during transportation activities
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervision, and clients to coordinate deliveries
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Experience operating heavy trucks & freight transportation, manual transmission
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and freight handling
- Able to work extended hours, including weekends as required
- Physically able to climb, secure loads, working and driving in all seasonal conditions
- Experience operating heavy equipment not required, but an asset
- Relevant construction safety tickets
- Open to working out of town as contract requirements dictate
