Main Responsibilities:
· Provide short-term counselling (up to 12 sessions) and long-term therapy (up to 2 years) to Heartwood participants 16+ who have experienced childhood sexual abuse
· Develop, lead and/or co-facilitate groups, workshops, or webinars as needed
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education in social services or related field
· Two (2) years’ experience providing crisis counselling or support to people impacted by trauma, substance use, and/or mental health challenges
· Combinations of relevant education and diverse experiences will be considered
· Experience conducting counselling sessions using a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens
· Experience providing individual and group counselling to adults impacted by trauma
· Demonstrates knowledge of harm reduction, impacts of colonization, mental health, gender-based violence, and trauma related to childhood sexual abuse
· Working knowledge of a wide range of healing approaches from diverse worldviews
· Prioritizes anti-oppressive practice and demonstrates self-awareness in this area
· Awareness of various resources and services available to the community
· Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
· Non-judgemental and accepting attitude with the ability to maintain client confidentiality
· Strong communication skills
· Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
