Position: Electrician & Field Technician (Canada Summer Jobs Program)

Description Summary: Patio Heaters Edmonton specializes in providing top-quality patio heating solutions to residential and commercial clients. The position of Electrician & Field Technician is a temporary term position supported through a grant from the Federal government's Canadian Summer Jobs program.
The Electrician & Field Technician will support day-to-day field operations, including heater installations, equipment handling, job-site preparation, and basic troubleshooting under the supervision of electricians and installers. This role suits students interested in trades, construction, electrical systems, and hands-on technical work.
Responsibilities:
- Assist electricians and installers on job sites by preparing materials, organizing tools, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.
- Support tasks such as measuring, labeling wires, carrying equipment, and documenting installations.
- Delivery and pickup of heaters, parts, and energy-management devices.
- Determine wiring layout for new or existing installations relating to patio heater equipment.
- Measure and position heater locations to achieve excellent symmetry and clean finished look.
- Install junction boxes, brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment and heaters on a variety of structures.
- Drill holes for wiring runs. Install conduit and teck cable.
- Pull wire through walls, floors, joists and conduit.
- Assemble and mount heaters.
- Commission and test heater equipment.
- Program timers on controllers.
- Orientate customer on use of heater operation and controllers.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local building codes and safety standards.
- Diagnose electrical issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Collaborate with our team to plan and execute projects efficiently and professionally.
- Provide advice on electrical installations and safety precautions.
- Photograph job progress, site conditions, and final installations for documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in residential electrical work - must have worked under the direct supervision of a journeyperson or master electrician.
- Must have knowledge and experience in wiring and connecting electrical equipment.
- Must have own tools - basic electrical hand and power tools.
- A valid Alberta drivers license and own vehicle - daily driving to job sites is required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
