Purpose of Position
The Thunder Bay 50/50 Store Staff Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Thunder Bay 50/50 retail store, ensuring a positive customer experience and efficient sales processes. Reporting to the Director, Charitable Gaming and the Charitable Gaming Officer; this role involves supervising store staff, coordinating schedules, managing inventory and cash handling, and maintaining compliance with all lottery regulations. The Staff Lead will act as the primary point of contact for store-related inquiries, supporting the success of all lottery draws and enhancing engagement with customers.
Responsibilities:
· Lead the day-to-day operations of the Thunder Bay 50/50 store, ensuring efficient and customer-friendly service.
· Supervise, schedule, and support store staff, including training new employees and monitoring performance.
· Oversee cash handling, point-of-sale operations, and daily reconciliations in compliance with financial controls.
· Ensure proper inventory management, including ticket stock, supplies, and promotional materials.
· Serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries and concerns at the store location.
· Collaborate with the lottery team to support Early Bird and Grand Prize draws, ensuring store compliance with licensing regulations.
· Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming store environment that reflects the Foundation’s values.
· Provide feedback to management on store performance, staffing needs, and opportunities for process improvements.
· Support marketing and promotional activities as directed, including the display of in-store materials.
· Assist in training staff on lottery regulations, customer service standards, and safety protocols.

· Strong leadership and supervisory skills with prior experience managing staff in a retail or customer service environment.
· Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset.
· Ability to manage cash and financial transactions accurately and responsibly.
· Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
· Familiarity with lottery regulations, retail operations, or fundraising initiatives is an asset.
· Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
· Full-time position: 37.5 hours/week.
· Compensation: $22/hour.
· Work hours: Primarily weekdays, with flexibility for evenings and weekends as required.
· Paid vacation.
· Defined Benefit Pension Plan.
· Workplace located inside Intercity Shopping Centre (Thunder Bay 50/50 store).
· This position will have a probationary period. Police Criminal Record Check upon hire is required.
· Successful candidate must show proof of double COVID-19 vaccination and up-to-date immunizations. Successful candidate must complete all mandatory onboarding as per Health Sciences Foundation and TBRHSC policies.
Other Information
· Minimum of 2 year’s experience in retail, customer service, or supervisory roles.
· Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or related field is an asset but not required.
· Ability to learn and adapt to new programs and technologies.
· Passion for supporting healthcare and fundraising initiatives in Northwestern Ontario.
