Job Title: Visitor Services Ambassador
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Compensation: $20.00 hour, 4% holiday pay.
Hours of work: Full-time, 30-35 hours week. Weekend, evening and holiday availability required.
Fort Steele Heritage Town is a living history site dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and enhancement of British Columbia’s rich heritage. Fort Steele serves as a cultural and educational resource, engaging visitors in the stories, traditions, and historical significance of the Region. We would like to acknowledge that the Site is located on the traditional, ancestral and present Ktunaxa homeland and extend our gratitude for the opportunity to live and learn in mutual respect and appreciation.
The Site is supported by the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Society and its Executive Management Team which provides strategic direction, development and funding to achieve the site’s mandate. What You'll Do:
Be a Star: Welcome visitors with a smile, providing information about the site, exhibits, and awesome holiday events.
Explore Every Corner: Support different areas of the site, from admissions to the gift shop, ensuring everything runs smoothly at the Visitor Centre, Kershaw’s General Store and the Wildhorse Theatre.
Shop 'Til You Drop (Sort Of): Help maintain gift shop inventory and assist visitors with their purchases.
Be a Problem Solver: Answer phones, direct inquiries, and resolve customer issues with a friendly attitude.
Keep it Clean: Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for everyone.
Cash in On Fun: Operate the register accurately and handle cash with care.
Party On: Assist with special events and seasonal activities – there's always something exciting happening!
What You Need:
- Experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service.
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks.
- Understanding of Indigenous relations and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (an asset).
- Valid driver’s license (a bonus!).
