George’s Plumbing & Heating (1985) Ltd. (“GPH”) is one of New Brunswick’s leading mechanical contractors, with over 50 years of operating history delivering complex commercial, institutional and government projects. We are employee-owned, locally operated, and unionized, with deep relationships with general contractors and public-sector owners across the province. We are hiring a licensed Journeyman Plumber for our Moncton-area Small Projects & Commercial Service team — handling smaller commercial jobs, fit-ups, tenant work and scheduled service for our clients. This is primarily a daytime weekday role; occasional after-hours work may come up depending on client and project needs, but there is no regular on-call or emergency rotation.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out small commercial projects, fit-ups, tenant improvements and scheduled service and repair work for commercial and institutional clients.
- Install, service and troubleshoot plumbing systems — domestic water, sanitary, storm, vent and natural gas.
- Work with hydronic / hot-water heating, in-floor radiant, trap primers, condensate drains and related mechanical piping.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics and specifications, and lay out work to code.
- Set fixtures and equipment; sleeve, core drill and firestop penetrations as needed.
- Manage your own day on smaller jobs — materials, sequencing and clean, professional client interaction.
- Follow all company and site health & safety requirements under our COR-evaluated program.
What You Bring
- Red Seal / New Brunswick Journeyperson Plumber certificate (or interprovincial equivalent).
- Solid hands-on experience across commercial and/or institutional plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read drawings and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a service-minded, professional attitude.
- Willingness to work as part of a unionized crew (UA membership).
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
- Comfortable working safely on active commercial sites; able to lift and work on your feet.
- Additional tickets an asset: gas-fitting, backflow prevention testing, steam-fitting.
What We Offer
- Union wages and benefits per the UA collective agreement, with pay based on certification and experience.
- Primarily daytime weekday hours with only occasional after-hours work — no regular on-call or emergency rotation.
- Steady, year-round work — a strong, multi-year backlog in the Moncton area and across New Brunswick.
- Union health, welfare and pension benefits.
- Variety of work across plumbing, hydronic, gas and mechanical systems.
- Clear path to advance toward Foreman / Lead roles.
- An employee-owned, safety-first company with 50+ years of stability and a reputation for quality.
