Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cement Finisher to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for finishing concrete surfaces, ensuring smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing results on various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of concrete finishing techniques, safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with experience in masonry, carpentry, or heavy equipment operation are preferred. This position offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to develop their skills within the construction industry.
This position will be on construction projects based throughout Newfoundland. Primarily it will be a 10 & 4 shift. Company Lodging will be provide, a company vehicle will be provide to a member of the crew to transport everyone from a set location if you wish to use it.
This position will be paying LOA if working away from your home location.
Responsibilities
- Finish concrete surfaces using hand tools and power tools to achieve a smooth and level finish
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and schematics to understand project specifications
- Install rebar and formwork according to project plans and safety standards
- Operate heavy equipment safely for material placement and site preparation
- Perform masonry work, including concrete forming, caulking, and restoration tasks as needed
- Conduct flooring installation and other renovation tasks as required
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards
- Assist in the setup of scaffolding or other temporary structures for elevated work areas
- Perform heavy lifting and manual labor as necessary to complete projects efficiently
Requirements
- Proven experience in concrete finishing, masonry, or related construction roles
- Mechanical knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Strong skills in rebar installation, concrete forming, caulking, and flooring installation
- Knowledge of restoration techniques and renovation processes is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work on elevated or uneven surfaces
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods in various weather conditions
- Prior experience with blueprint reading and schematics is preferred
- Valid safety certifications or willingness to obtain necessary training
