Position Overview
Avantia Medical Imaging is seeking a qualified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in a full-time role. This role operates under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services and is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered ultrasound services.

Commitment Expectations (Full-Time Role)
You must be willing to commit to the following when considering this role:
- Commitment to a regular full-time schedule, including one 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM shift per week to support extended patient access and clinic operations
- 3 weeks of vacation allowable per year.
- Vacation allotment cannot be exceeded, as full-time staffing levels are structured to ensure consistent patient coverage, equitable scheduling among staff, and operational stability.
- Willingness to support team coverage, including coordinating time-off arrangements with colleagues to ensure adequate staffing.
- Actively involved in student training and contributing to ongoing clinical education as part of team responsibilities.
- Adherence to attendance, punctuality, and reliability standards expected of a full-time role.
- Engagement in continuing education and professional development to maintain clinical excellence
Primary Responsibilities & Abilities
- Work efficiently and independently
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and explain procedures
- Perform a variety of ultrasound studies including abdominal, OB/GYN, pelvic, transvaginal, chest, face, neck, and small parts
- Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers and frequencies
- Utilize RIS, PACS, and other imaging systems to acquire and store images
- Ensure images are correctly labeled, verified, and sent to PACS
- Recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and extend studies as appropriate
- Participate in quality assurance and equipment testing programs
- Clean probes, exam beds, rooms, and equipment using approved disinfectants
- Maintain stocked, organized, and orderly work areas
- Maintain compliance with CMRITO continuing education requirements
- Assist in training new staff, students, and sonographers as required
- Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, staff, and physicians
Basic Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Diagnostic Ultrasound program
- Current CMRITO registration with liability insurance
- Competency in general ultrasound scanning techniques
- Doppler and vascular ultrasound experience an asset
- MSK ultrasound experience an asset
- FMF Canada NT certification or willingness to obtain
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Strong written communication skills with good grammar and spelling
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Current CPR certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to scan for extended periods
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods
- Ability to assist patients onto and around examination beds
Pay: From $33.15 per hour
