Job Description
Spector Pipe Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Pipe Inspector to join our growing team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The successful candidate will have experience inspecting drill pipe, tubing and casing while maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy and safety. This position is ideal for an individual who takes pride in their work, enjoys working in a team environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies, work instructions and quality procedures.
- Perform inspections of drill pipe, tubing and casing in accordance with API standards, customer specifications and company procedures.
- Conduct visual, dimensional and electromagnetic inspections to identify corrosion, pitting, wall loss, fatigue cracks, cuts, gouges and other defects.
- Evaluate inspection results and recommend appropriate corrective actions or repair requirements.
- Operate, calibrate and maintain inspection equipment, measuring instruments and testing devices to ensure accurate results.
- Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation of inspection findings.
- Verify product quality and ensure all inspected materials meet customer specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting inspection equipment and maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and following safe work practices at all times.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience inspecting drill pipe, tubing and casing in an oilfield or pipe yard environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of API inspection standards and industry best practices.
- Experience performing visual, dimensional and electromagnetic inspection of OCTG and drill pipe.
- Proficient in the use of inspection equipment, gauges, calipers, thread gauges and measuring instruments.
- Ability to accurately identify corrosion, pitting, wall loss, fatigue cracks, mechanical damage and other defects.
- Experience interpreting inspection results and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, inspection procedures and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate inspection reports.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company safety policies.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work safely in an industrial pipe yard environment.
