The Al-Mustafa school is an independent Islamic elementary school located in Surrey, BC. The school opened in September of 2021 with the goal of providing elementary school education that is deeply rooted in Islamic thought and heritage. It is currently located in a beautiful facility that is nestled within the natural environment of Joe Brown park. The school provides families and teachers with the opportunity to be a part of a warm and spiritual community at Al-Mustafa.
We are considering expanding to offer KG to Grade 9 classes for the 2026-2027 school year, and are seeking qualified applicants for 1 part-time certified middle school Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies) teacher position starting in late August of 2026.
This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to student success across various age groups and skill levels. The applicant should have experience in teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies.
Qualifications:
- BC Teachers Certification .
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university.
- Knowledge of Islam and willingness to develop an environment that is conducive to teaching the doctrines, values and practices of the faith.
- Committed to nurturing a strong Islamic identity and being a role-model for the students.
- Knowledge of pedagogy including instructional strategies and the ability to support students with different learning styles.
- Strong knowledge of the redesigned BC curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management skills and creating a warm and positive learning environment.
- Possessing a warm and nurturing demeanor, and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with students.
- Courses or experience in working with special needs students are an asset.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Recent criminal record check.
