Job Summary: Home Support Aide.
Provides support services to Clients in a Comfort Keepers established Personal Care Program.
Qualifications:
MUST HAVE - 2 years minimum experience of care with seniors.
· It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure they hold and maintain a current certification in First Aid with CPR (if, and when required), Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check if required by the employer. And N95 Mask Test.
· A current up to date photograph of the employee must be held on employee’s file.
· Employee must meet or exceed minimum qualifications for each of the following background checks: Criminal Background Investigation, Motor Vehicle Driving Record (where necessary), Professional and Personal Reference Checks, and submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
· Must have reliable transportation and fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality. Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance when required to drive while on assignment.
· If employee is driving clients a copy of the employees current driving license and up to date vehicle insurance policy (showing vehicle can be used for work purposes) must be given to the office and any changes to policy or license must be updated with the Comfort Keepers office.
· Employees must complete orientation online training within 4 weeks of hire, and annual online refresher training must be completed within 30 days of the employment anniversary date.
· Must accept responsibility for learning and adhering to Comfort Keepers policies and procedures, be able to function in the home setting with minimal direct.
supervision and maintain satisfactory relationships with administrative staff, clients, and family members.
· Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and document services provided. Must be genuinely concerned about helping people and have high moral standards of honesty and integrity.
· Employee must adhere to respectful communication as outlined in the Workplace Violence, Harassment and Bullying Policies. Respectful behavior, non-intimidating behaviors includes the use and interactions via telephone, text message and E Mail.
Essential Functions:
● Performs duties as assigned in the Plan of Care.
● Assists the client with activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including, but not limited to bathing, dressing, toileting, exercises, grooming, diaper/incontinence pad changing, catheter bag changing, oral hygiene, and/or ambulation.
● May record a client’s weight it needed and safe to do.
● Provides for a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients and family members. Provides light housekeeping tasks including laundering of client’s garments and linens and changing the bed.
● Clean and put band aids on small cuts.
● Assists in meeting nutritional needs by providing meal planning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, dishes, and kitchen clean-up.
● Assists the with client with ambulation and exercises as specified in the Plan of Care.
● Prompts clients and assist with medications if medication is blister packed.
● Observes reports any changes in the client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation to client care coordinator in a timely manner and/or call 911 if the situation is urgent, then report to client care coordinator.
● Establishes and maintains effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
● Participates in in-service and continuing education programs, staff meetings, and client conferences as requested by immediate supervisor/manager.
● Completes required documentation of services delivered and submits to office in a timely manner according to policy. Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.
● Maintains confidentiality regarding client information.
● Other reasonable related duties as assigned.
